Fusie Engineers Assists Scaldis SMC with Accommodation Lift.

2025-07-10

After months of preparations the Accommodation complex finally landed on solid ground last week.

By removing this close to 400-ton piece of steel Scaldis SMC reaches another milestone in this Decommissioning project. This project involves the decommissioning of 6 platforms of nearly 60 years old Gas Field, located 22 km off the Norfolk coast.

The removal was performed by Scaldis SMC’s Heavy Lift Vessel (HVL) Rambiz. She sailed from the United Kingdom to Vlissingen with the accommodation suspended from the hooks. This transportation method eliminates the need for an additional transport barge.

Fusie Engineers was responsible for the Structural lift analysis and to verify the structural integrity during this trip. By performing a detailed FEM analysis, we managed to perform a safe voyage with minimal reinforcement requirements. This not only saves time but also unnecessary risks offshore.
